Learn more about Christian Leader® Community Coaching:

What if true leadership isn’t about doing more—but about flowing from a place of alignment with God? In this rich conversation, Dr. Margaret Banks-Butler—author, speaker, and seasoned prayer leader—joins Ryan to explore the spiritual dynamics of the flow state and how it transforms the way we lead. Drawing from her book Spiritual Flow State, Dr. Butler explains how obedience, inward elevation, and divine assignment create space for Spirit-led momentum. Plus, she shares key findings from her research on why Apostolic Millennials stay in the church—and what leaders must understand to keep the next generation rooted in truth. If you’re feeling out of sync or spiritually depleted, this episode will help you realign and lead from the place of grace.

Flow is the place of your divine assignment and that sweet spot as you mentioned. And it's not just about performing, it's about placement. You have to learn to be submissive to the Lord Jesus Christ before you can do any kind of spiritual warfare. You have to walk in obedience. And it's obedience precedes armament. So when you're in the presence of God, even when you are hurting, you're still saying yes to the mission, yes to the purpose God, I'm hurting, but it's still yes.

So leaders, I know just how frustrating it can feel when you're in the weeds of work or ministry and life is chaotic. You're struggling to feel effective and you're just not enjoying leadership as much as you could be. And so to help you, after many years of leadership and executive coaching, I've developed a framework called the Christian Leader Blueprint that'll guide you to find clarity in your life and leadership. It'll help you gain a better rhythm of life, it'll help you see yourself more clearly to leverage your strengths and you'll produce more productive relationships. It's a step by step guide to leadership transformation and I have that in two formats now. I have a free short guide that you can find on ryanfranklin.org and I have a book, the Christian Leader Blueprint and you can find that in any format, including an audiobook wherever you buy your books.

I have a few more things on my website that you may be interested in, so just head on over to ryanfranklin.org and check it all out. And now let's get to our session.

Welcome to the Christian Leader Made Simple Show. I'm your host, Ryan Franklin, and on the show today we have a very special guest, Dr. Margaret Banks Butler. Margaret currently serves as the International Harvest Prayer Coordinator at World Network of Prayer. She holds a doctorate in psychology and a Master's in organizational leadership. Since 1988, she's been in corporate training in Human resources and has also been an adjunct professor in organizational leadership.

Dr. Banks combines decades of ministry experience with her academic study of human and organizational psychology, which I deeply value and love. And she did this to help people walk in greater alignment with their calling. And whether you're leading in a church, whether you're mentoring the next generation, or you just have a great longing to live from a deeper place of flow and purpose, I think this conversation is gonna speak directly to your spirit.

So why don't we just dive into it? Dr. Banks, welcome to the show.

Thank you, Ryan. It's my pleasure being here.

Absolutely. It's an honor to have you with us today. I know you're a woman of prayer and you've been praying for this.

I have been praying for our interaction today, and I believe we're going to bless a few people.

That's true. That's the desire.

Absolutely. Well, I would... To get us started... I'd just love to hear maybe some key moments of your journey that got you to where you are today in ministry. And you've got tons of academic pursuits. You've been in the business world for many years. Tell us a little bit about your journey.

Well, thank you for asking. It's been a journey. And it started in respect to my spiritual journey. It started 1977 at age 14. Do not calculate my age, but I am proud of the Lord in that he has kept me. You know, he has kept me, and I appreciate him.
